Inspiring a healthy relationship...
My career in health promotion began in 1988 with the goal of empowering disenfranchised women and families to make informed health choices. Working at various nonprofit health and social service agencies, I've had the opportunity to develop and implement programs that have touched many lives in the areas of women's health, maternal and child health, breastfeeding promotion, attachment parenting, reproductive health, nutrition education, disease prevention, work-site wellness and environmental health.
When my positions became more and more managerial, I longed to return to my original passion of working directly with groups and individuals. This led me to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program. Little did I know that this decision would transform my own health. Through my studies, I recognized my addiction to carbs and how that was affecting my health in various ways. I made significant changes to my diet that helped me lose weight, increase my energy, and achieve more balanced blood sugar levels. The program also motivated me to prioritize my self-care and create a more balanced life.
In 2014, I launched Salud y Alegría Wellness and have now expanded it beyond coaching individuals to also offering group coaching, EFT/Tapping, workshops, worksite wellness, and consulting services. I am grateful for my journey and would be honored to support yours!
I create a supportive environment that allows clients to achieve their health goals. Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. Instead, I take an individualized and holistic approach integrating all aspects of a person's lifestyle, culture, values, and preferences, guiding clients to find what works for them. I encourage my clients to take a look at how all areas of their lives are connected and affect their health and how they eat. Drawing on my knowledge of different dietary theories and mind-body modalities, I work with clients to help them with step-by-step strategies that produce real and lasting results. My specialty is supporting women to overcome the stress and underlying factors that result in emotional eating.
