Inspiring a healthy relationship...
with food and with yourself!
My career began in 1988 with the goal of empowering women to make informed health choices. It wasn’t long before I was promoted to managerial positions that gave me the opportunity to expand beyond being a health educator to developing, implementing, and overseeing programs, primarily for low-income communities within health and social service organizations. While very rewarding, there came a point in my career where I longed to return to my original passion of being an educator and counselor rather than a manager. This led me to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Health Coach Training Program. Little did I know that this decision would transform my own health and change my life.
Through my studies, I recognized that I had an addiction to sugar and carbs that was affecting my health in various ways. I knew that if I was going to coach people on healthy eating, I would have to practice what I preach. On January 1, 2013, I made it my New Year’s resolution to break up with sugar, refined carbs, and processed foods. This change, which I have maintained ever since, resulted in more energy, weight loss, more stable blood sugar, more balanced moods, improved gut health, and more.
Once I completed my training, I began coaching individuals and offering group programs as my side hustle. In late 2016, I took a leap of faith to focus on Salud y Alegria Wellness full-time. It’s been quite a journey and I’m grateful for all that I’ve learned and all the opportunities to be of service!
I create a safe, supportive space that allows clients to be reflective and honest with themselves about what they want for their lives and what’s holding them back. I take a personalized, mind-body, holistic, approach integrating all aspects of a person’s lifestyle, culture, values, emotions, beliefs, and physical health. I guide clients to find what works best for them. I support clients to eat clean, stress less, prioritize self-care, achieve more balance, and, most importantly, learn to love and accept themselves more fully.
